Prescription Plans
Anyone who follows the news or has filled a prescription recently knows that the cost of prescription drugs is often a substantial expense. In fact, prescription drug spending-galloping up by around 17 percent a year-is the fastest-growing item in health care inflation.
Most health insurance plans have provisions that cover prescription drugs. However, if the health insurance plan you provide to your employees and their families does not offer sufficient prescription drug coverage, or if your plan provides no drug coverage at all, you may wish to consider a prescription drug plan as an add-on to your health insurance plan.
As you study various plans, be aware that some prescription insurance plans are genuine "insurance plans," in which you and your employees will pay a deductible, a co-payment, or both. Other plans are discount programs, in which the covered individual pays for the drug but receives a discount.
Some prescription drug insurance plans offer a mail-service option. This component to the prescription drug plan is especially convenient for individuals who use "maintenance" drugs, used on a daily or routine basis. In addition, some plans offer even greater discounts on drugs that are delivered through the mail. Request a quote from a carrier offering Prescription plans in your area >>
