Anthem HealthKeepers:
Placing an emphasis on comprehensive coverage and preventative care over provider choice, these HMO products offer major medical coverage at a low, predictable monthly cost. Members choose a Primary Care Physician, who becomes the responsible coordinator for any treatment that member receives. Anthem HealthKeepers places an emphasis on wellness and preventative care so that members stay healthy all the time, alleviating the need for treatment.
Anthem KeyCare:
This PPO solution gives members the choice to see any provider in the KeyCare network, with a referral or the designation of a Primary Care Physician (PCP). These solutions typically bring a higher out-of-pocket cost, but also enable a larger level of choice and control for the plan member. KeyCare plans feature a two-tiered benefit structure, offering lower costs for in-network care and higher copayment for out-of-network treatment.
Anthem BlueCare:
The traditional fee-for-service plans offer the widest level of freedom for members, dissolving network restrictions and enabling members to seek treatment anywhere. BCBS will pay a predetermined amount for specific treatments, so the remainder of these costs fall to the member in an indemnity plan. However, these members are also free from referral requirements and PCPs, so many elect that freedom in exchange for slightly higher costs.
Essential & Standard:
These plans were designed by the Commonwealth of Virginia in the interests of guaranteeing fair benefit access for small business owners. They fit the set coverage parameters defined by the Commonwealth, and offer the common plans the state has decreed. Included in this state-set ruling is the introduction of Health Savings Accounts, or HSAs, which put the control over healthcare spending in the hands of the member responsible for the investment.
